Gents, I read an article some days ago about the Demag SSL-boom mounted on the AC 500-2. What is it's advantage and why is the SL-config no more available with this crane? Can you also tell me something about the use and function of the SSL-guying? |

When mounted, the Superlift (SL) makes the boom more stiff when working in wide ranges. All telescopic booms bend under load. The SL and SSL stop bending the boom by pulling it back. The boom gets more stiff with it and so you can reach higher loads with it. Demag made cranes with SL for a long time, approx 20 years. The SL strenghtens the boom only in the horizontal line. Advantage of the SSL is, that it fixes the boom also in a vertikal line. The SSL (Sideway Superlift) can be spread like wings, the boom is stabilised from behind and from the sides. It makes lifting more precise and easier for the man in the cabine. |
